According to the official website of China's Ministry of Commerce,China's Ministry of Commerce、General Administration of Customs、General Military Commission development department jointly announced the optimization and adjustment of drone export control measures, prohibiting the export of civilian drones for large-scale proliferation or military purposes, etc., with the new measures coming into effect from 1 September.
The announcement states that the control standards for some important parts of drones, such as infrared imaging equipment and lasers used for target indication, will be adjusted, high-precision inertial measurement equipment will be added to the scope of control, and the temporary export control of specific consumer-grade drones will be abolished.
The announcement pointed out that the optimization adjustment is based on the”Export Control Law of the People’s Republic of China””Export and Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China”and “Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China” and other laws and regulations, and in conjunction with the international situation and the needs of domestic industrial development customized.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China pointed out that the adjustment reflects the control concept of integrating development and security, which is conducive to better safeguarding China's national security and interests, better fulfilling its international obligations such as non-proliferation, and safeguarding the security and stability of the global industrial chain supply chain.The Chinese Government firmly supports the international trade and cooperation of Chinese enterprises in the civilian use of drones, opposes the use of civilian drones for non-peaceful purposes in violation of the law, and opposes the imposition of unlawful sanctions on Chinese enterprises and individuals by individual countries on the basis of the use of drones at every turn. China will continue to track and assess the situation of drone exports and make timely adjustments and improvements to the relevant policies.
